everybody's working for the weekend

working in the restaurant industry leads to having odd days off. this week my weekend is wednesday and thursday. yesterday i started doing some christmas shopping i know have my dad and my nephew crossed off my list. i was hoping to buy some more yarn and needles but alas, i had to get new pants and shoes for work. so i am stuck with nothing to knit until at least saturday. i can see how having a stash could come in handy in situations like this. tonight looks like it will consist of hanging out with christie eating hot pockets and watching terrible television. would have been a good knitting night!

DONE DONE ON TO THE NEXT ONE!

I'VE DONE IT! I finally have a finished object. It too me about a month and a half, of off and on knitting but am now the proud owner of a pretty sweet scarf. it's simple, it's ugly, but it's MINE! Can you tell I'm a bit excited? I'm thinking of doing the reasonably hip hat next.

i hear it's colder cleveland....

Ravelry may be the best thing ever. I'm like a kid on Christmas. I can see how it may impede actually knitting though. My plan was to get up and get right to knitting. Instead, I was playing on Ravelry for about two hours before I even picked up my needles. The knitting of the scarf is now complete. The binding off was a little shakey, but it looks okay, I think. I just need to weave in the ends and I will be DONE DONE DONE. I'm not sure what I should tackle as my next project. Any suggestions?

Other than knitting my day was pretty uneventful. I went with the lovely Mrs. Skinny to go christmas shopping for Mr. Skinny. It's quite a feat to find 28x34 jeans let me tell you! but that is why we call him Mr. Skinny. While at the mall I found many an idea for Spencer's christmas and birthday gifts, but she reads this, so I won't spoil that for her. Anyway, you'll get to see them on her blog after she receives them.

oh oh oh for the longest time

i've been waiting for my ravelry invite for what seems like forever. the wait is now over. i've been looking through the site for the past hour or so, it's AMAZING! I'd seen Spencer be on there for hours, but I didn't get it. Now I totally understand! oh yes, my user name is "jonny". original i know. i've always wanted to have my username just be my name on something, but it's always taken. so i was pretty stoked about that. i'm almost done with my scarf, i'm hoping to finish tomorrow, as i have the day off. pictures at completion.

i'm off to ravel some more!

in between molecules of oxygen and carbon dioxide...

I need to learn time management a bit better if i'm ever going to finish this scarf. I've been working quite a bit but i still should be able to find some time to knit. Maybe I should start bringing it with me to Denny's. It's been proven already that I can knit and drink coffee, so I might as well do it there.

Working at Red Robin again has been an interesting experience. There's a lot of the same people there, but also some new ones. I've made friends with a couple of the new kitchen guys, so that's always nice to have them on my side. I work bright and early tomorrow at 11am (hey, that's bright and early for me) so i think i'm going to go to bed.

also i should be getting my ravelry invite tomorrow or thursday, there's only 260 people in front of me. so watch out for jonny

it feels like the very first time....

It seems to me that those who knit, blog. So here I am. Armed with a keyboard, some needles, yarn and maybe even a little bit of testosterone. I'm still quite a novice, in fact i haven't even completed anything yet. I am working on a kick ass basic ribbed scarf in orange and green. It may be the most hideous on the planet, but I plan to wear it everywhere. I'll have Spencer take some pictures of it some time. We all know that blogs are no fun without pictures.

In non-knitting news, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Should be lots of fun and food and family. I was sent to the grocery store earlier. Talk about a flustercluck. I may be known for waiting for the last minute for things, but this was ridiculous. There were 100lb women pushing two and three carts full of turkeys and other such yummies. Note to self: don't go grocery shopping the day before Thanksgiving.
